Made a Mess 02:44
I Know I’ve Made a Mess This Time When the smallest things turn over Into the biggest fight We’re always saying that we’re sorry Losing track of who was right It’s like cleaning up the kitchen That gets dirty every night I know I made a mess this time If I was standing in your shoes I’d be walking out the door I don’t know how you have the courage To keep coming back for more of this It’s like sleeping on our sofa That's uncomfortable, but sorely missed I know I made a mess this time It’s like digging through old photographs To recreate those captured laughs To find a smile through all of those tears It’s like counting backwards ten to one It’s hard to hear, hard to listen Without falling down on two deaf ears I know I made a mess this time Oh I made a mess, I see it Oh I made a mess, I’ll clean it Oh I made a mess, I’ll fix it Oh I made a mess, I see I know I made a mess this time

Empty Cup 03:27
She was an empty cup We watched her fill herself up On whiskey with water then wine My college friends still Call her the mystery Who crashed our party to have a good time To have a good time [Did she] have a good time? The answer was never Mine in the morning It was a quarter to something And I was still waiting in the hospital room I couldn’t answer the questions they were asking Like what were her last name or the name of that tune On the radio On the radio I don’t remember the words But think I still know How the melody goes I don’t remember the words But the song went like so La, La, La, La, La La, La, La I walked through the door empty handed My friends asked me what the hell happened After I took her home I silently counted the cups on the table My friend said I'll never able To get a girl alone Before they left I asked them If they knew the song that went like so That went, "La, La, La, La, La La, La, La"

“Love and Be Proud” We went to see a movie before we Split a bottle of cheap champagne The film was about a soldier who kept his Worried gun well maintained He always kept a Bible in his Front pocket to save his heart He wrote his wife a letter while the Sky was ripped apart And it said there will Always be sunshine Always be rain We can count all of our blessings Or we could sit here and complain There always will be blue skies Even if there are a few clouds I can’t always be there But I will always love you and be proud. We went for a long walk [It was] quite cold for late July And every step you took [Felt like a] question in disguise Why must we, why must we say goodbye so soon I would trade all my money For just another chance in June There always will be sunshine Always will be rain We can count all of our blessings Or we could sit here and complain There always will be blue skies Even if there are a few clouds I can’t always be there But I will always love you and be proud... There will always be oceans Always be land I can still remember your touch Even if I can’t hold your hand There always will be blue skies Even if there are a few clouds I can’t always be there But I will always love you and be proud.

I Will (If Your Plane Is Late) Before you left we said some things That we didn't mean At the baggage claim, I placed the blame on you You placed the blame on me Then you were gone And I was here alone Now your trip is done, and you're coming home With more than souvenirs I've got the sound of your voice Ringing in my ears Saying, "If my plane is late, will you still be standing at the gate waiting there for me" I will I will I will ‘Cos I, I missed you from an empty bed And I should’a chased you, you came back instead Some think love is just a lie for lust But I learned distance is a trial of trust If your plane is late, I'll still be standing at the gate, Waiting there for you I will I will I will I will

about

In Sept 2011, Mike Vial headed back to Catherine North Studios to work with Canadian producer moon:and:6 again. This EP captures Mike's growth as a songwriting and offers a glimpse of Mike with a full band, The Great Lake Effect. What hasn't changed is Mike's focus on interesting chord progressions and accessible, poetic lyrics. This third EP focuses on themes of transition, distance, love, forgiveness, and courage, crossing bridges of folk, pop, and rock.
